WE-AR proud to be B Corp Certified

Since our inception, WE-AR has been focused on creating an ethical and sustainable fashion business. We have worked hard to ensure every aspect of our business including our outside suppliers adhere to our strict Code of Ethics and Environmental Policy and we are proud to say that we are Certified with the B Corp Seal for over 3 years now.

B Corp is often described as being “to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee.” B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corp leads a growing global movement of “people using a business as a force for good”.

In order for a company to become B Corp Certified it must undergo a series of assessments and meet a strict criteria and scoring system. The company is thoroughly assessed in all areas of its business operations. Once a company is certified it is then subject to random site reviews by B Corp to ensure authenticity of the Certified B Corp Seal across the globe.

Year on year we investigate ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint and work on improving our processes. Last year we moved to plastic-free courier bags and started shipping all of our online orders in home compostable bags. After many years of trying to find a sustainable and organic cashmere factory, we finally found the perfect one in Nepal and now do our production of our luxury knitwear there. This year, we ran an awareness campaign about micro plastics pollution in our oceans. You can read our article here. During the campaign we encouraged our community to bring in their plastic leggings to our stores to be safely disposed of and offered them $20 off an earth-loving WE-AR pair. Our founder Jyoti is speaking about the impacts of microplastics at an event with Conscious Action in Auckland next Wednesday eve (17th July) - you can secure tickets here. We'll also be giving away a double pass - follow us on Intagram to enter.
