What is a grounding soap?
Grounding soap acts as a lovely addition to our practice, designed to support arriving back to earth, setting intention through the fragrance, and cleansing the body.
Grounding can bring a sense of stability, calm, and connection to the present. Our close friend and master soap maker Yuki combines sweet woody scents, botanicals and therapeutic ingredients by hand at her Mt Maunganui studio, crafting these beautiful bars to support a grounded flow as you go about your day.
Yuki and her soap making process:
Yuki started producing grounding soaps many years ago in a small protest towards plastic Christmas gifts. For her, the process is designed to heal the recipient. Yuki only makes soap when the energy feels right, imbuing every bar with love and positive vibrations. Each bar is hand crafted with natural ingredients and dried for six weeks to ensure a perfect soap.
Key ingredients:
Cinnamon - “These soaps use cinnamon powder, cinnamon leaf essential oil, and cinnamon bark essential oil. I believe that sense of cinnamon brings you a good old memory.”
Frankincense - “Known as the king of the essential oils, frankincense helps us to calm our mind. Often found in combination with myrrh, these oils were burned in places of worship to help purify the air and prevent the spread of contagious disease.”
Myrrh - “Myrrh has long been used in Chinese and Ayurveda medicine. Myrrh provides a connection to our mother earth when we feel unsafe in the world.”
Turmeric - “Turmeric root has long been used in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine due to its antimicrobial properties. Each grounding soap contains around 1.4g of turmeric powder.”
Coconut - “Coconut is known as panacea! It’s a very useful item in our life, especially in summer to keep us cool. It can be eaten, drunk, used to keep fire, or as a craft material. Coconut water contains a significant amount of calcium, which is necessary for healthy bones. It also has magnesium, which builds bone strength.
The soap also contains Patchouli, Vetiver, and Dead Sea mud.
